What are the benefits of each laptop?

Just looking at features and specs can be confusing, especially if you’re not an avid gamer or don’t follow high-end gaming laptops closely enough to know what a Gigabyte GTX 1060 overclock means for performance. To help us sort through what makes these two different gaming laptops tick, we took a deep dive into their specs and how each performed in our tests. Here’s what we found out about these two powerful 15-inch gaming laptops.

Display

Both of these laptops feature display sizes of 15.6 inches, so you’ll never have to squint to see your game. But their resolutions are quite different and can make a big difference in your overall gaming experience—especially if you’re looking for an affordable gaming laptop for less than $1,000 (and still want good graphics). The Asus Rog Strix’s 1080p display is crisp, bright and colorful with deep blacks, but it will cost you about $1,400 (as of May 2018). To save money on your next notebook, take a look at our best budget gaming laptops guide to find one with a similar sized screen at half that price or less.

Processor and performance

Intel i7 Processor Benchmarks.

source: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/
performance for Asus ROG Strix G15

Both laptops are packing solid quad-core processors from AMD’s current generation of Ryzen chips. Both sport a 2GHz base clock, with a 3.7GHz boost speed, and both boast a total of 16 threads for handling all your gaming needs. That’s impressive by any standard—but how do they compare in real-world performance? Let’s find out! We’ll be comparing these two systems on a variety of benchmarks to see which comes out on top. First up is Cinebench, where we’ll look at multi-threaded performance.

The results were pretty close here, but ultimately it was no contest—the ASUS TUF DASH F15 came out ahead with a score of 835 points. Next up is Geekbench 4, which also focuses on multi-threaded performance. Again, it was very close here but once again the ASUS TUF DASH F15 came out on top (5358). Finally we have PCMark 10 Extended Test 1.0 – Home Test – Creative Accelerated v2 where once again there’s not much between them – just over 50 points separates them here. Overall though it’s clear that both offer some great performance across various tests – you won’t go wrong whichever you choose!

Storage & Memory

As far as I can tell, there’s no difference between these two models when it comes to keyboard, trackpad, and touchpad—all are responsive, accurate, and give you a good sense of feedback when pressing down on them. That said, I did prefer typing on the F15 thanks to its more shallow key travel and slightly larger keys; however, both are perfectly fine options for those who just want a keyboard that gets out of their way. For example, if you just need something with a few quick media keys—for volume control or screen brightness adjustments—then either laptop should work well enough for that purpose.

Ports, battery life, and weight

What really sets these two notebooks apart is their different approaches to ports, battery life, and weight—and while one might be better than another in certain areas, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better overall.

Design, quality, customer support

If a company is willing to take a little bit of time to help you get your new computer running, that says something about how much they care about you as a customer. If someone at your local store is readily available to answer questions and show you how to use some of its most popular features, it’s worth it for convenience’s sake alone. This point cannot be emphasized enough; support from companies like ASUS are what make me more likely to recommend them in general. When you can get everything from service upgrades and online manuals direct from manufacturers through their website, there’s less reason for me (or anyone) to refer you elsewhere for support issues—and that’s a good thing for both of us!

Competitive comparisons against other laptops in its class

While we made an effort to test laptops of different screen sizes, operating systems, and price points (both higher and lower), we ultimately decided that it was too hard to recommend one of these laptops over another since they’re all fairly similar—and new models are released often enough that buying any one of them is a matter of judging how much you value portability and weight versus performance at any given time. In our review above, we called out specific competitors and why each failed to earn our recommendation; some had slow components or dull screens; others simply cost too much for what you get, especially when more affordable options exist in other size classes like 15-inch and 17-inch gaming laptops.

Lenovo Legion 2 vs Red Magic 6: Which Phone is Right for You?

The smartphone industry changes rapidly, and it can be hard to keep up with the latest trends and devices. With so many great options available, which device should you choose? In this article, we compare the Lenovo Legion 2 and Red Magic 6 to help you figure out which one will work best for your needs.

Differences Between Lenovo Legion 2 and Red Magic 6

Processor – The Lenovo Legion 2 features a Snapdragon 845 processor, while you’ll find an even more powerful (and more efficient) Snapdragon 855 in the Red Magic 6. GPU – While both phones have powerful graphics processors, you’ll enjoy more power with an Adreno 640 in Lenovo’s flagship device and a faster Adreno 680 in Sony’s upcoming release. Display – Both devices have high-resolution screens with high refresh rates and accurate color reproduction. However, Lenovo has an edge over Sony here thanks to its higher display resolution of 1440p vs 1080p on Sony’s gaming phone. Camera – While their cameras may take similar shots (12 MP dual rear + 8 MP selfie), there are two major differences between them: size and design.

Display Quality

Both of these phones have good displays, with no dead pixels or any other problems to report. However, where both models differ is that each one has different display sizes. The Lenovo Legion 2 has a 5.5 display, which means it’s perfect for watching videos or playing games in landscape mode. But if you don’t want to hold your phone in landscape mode, you can still enjoy photos and text on a small screen without squinting too much. The Red Magic 6 also has a 5.5 display, but it’s slightly bigger than that of its competitor—perhaps just enough to give you an edge over viewing media and gaming.

Camera Quality

The Lenovo Legion 2 and Red Magic 6’s camera performance were pretty similar in our tests. In low light, neither phone did well. While other devices produced accurate colors in our test images, both phones’ photos looked a bit washed out. The photos also had noticeable graininess, even with light sources nearby. However, when it came to daytime photography, both phones did better than expected. We tested them outside in bright sunlight and found that there was minimal noise or graininess on both cameras’ images. Overall, we feel like gamers will be happy with either of these gaming phones’ cameras—but they might not be as impressed with their capabilities as a normal person would be (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing).

Speaker Quality

The Lenovo Legion 2 features front-facing speakers, and so does its competition. Unfortunately, Lenovo’s speakers are average at best. They don’t get too loud and sound quite muffled. The Red Magic 6 features back-firing speakers that can get much louder than most phone speakers—and they also happen to be a lot better than what you’ll find on most phones. With a DAC optimized specifically for gaming audio, you can expect to hear a pretty big difference in your gameplay audio when comparing these two devices. Ultimately, it’s hard to go wrong with either one of these phones if you’re looking for great sound quality—but if you want something even better, try out some external Bluetooth headphones instead!

Keypad & Touchpad

Legion 2 features a raised keypad and touchpad that allow you to type without looking at your phone. Built-in haptic feedback technology makes each key press more responsive so you can reach your message destination with speed and precision. Further customize input with preloaded emojis, GIFs, text shortcuts and even barcode scanning capabilities. The Legion 2 also supports edge lighting technology so you can change up its backlight glow when things get serious. Press it in anger or touch it softly – either way, every interaction with this exceptional keyboard will stand out from your typical smartphone experience.

Audio Jack

Both phones come with a headphone jack, which means you don’t have to worry about having trouble listening to music or videos on your phone. If you use wired headphones, it’s nice to not have to find an adapter for your phone. Whether that matters or not depends on how many times you’ll be plugging and unplugging headphones. If it’s more than once a day, an adapter can become a hassle.

Processor Speed & RAM

The Lenovo Legion 2 has a 3.40Ghz, oct-core processor and 6 GB of RAM. The GIGABYTE AORUS Gaming Box comes with an oct-core, 3.70Ghz processor and 8GB of RAM. Both phones have more than enough power to handle your favorite apps and games, so which one you choose won’t make a significant difference in terms of performance. And while they both come with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, neither phone requires such high amounts—in fact, having that much can negatively impact performance at times because you have to work harder to clear memory after running a few background tasks or opening new apps.

Pros and Cons of Both Phones

Both phones come with exciting new features, but they’re also both missing a few things that gamers have come to expect from a phone. Let’s start by taking a look at some of each device’s most obvious pros and cons. For Lenovo, it has one of the best processors in its price range and an impressive cooling system that helps keep your phone from overheating when you start playing intense games like PUBG Mobile. On top of that, it comes with two batteries, so you can charge one while you play on another and not get stuck waiting around.

Asus Zephyrus G15 vs Strix G15: Which Gaming Laptop is Right for You?

How do you know which gaming laptop to buy? Should you go with the Asus Zephyrus G15 or the Asus Strix G15? Both models are great choices, but they’re also quite different from one another—so choosing between them can be tough. Let’s take a look at what makes these two models so similar, as well as how they differ from one another, so you can find the best fit for your needs.

What is the difference between GTX 1060 Max-Q?

A key thing to consider when comparing laptops is if they have a Max-Q variant. Max-Q versions of video cards are designed to be more power efficient than their non-Max-Q counterparts. A gaming laptop with a Max-Q video card should allow you to play at higher settings and maintain a better frame rate than that same laptop with an older, non-Max-Q card. However, it will likely cost you a bit more as well. In most cases, it’s worth upgrading since these newer models can also accommodate higher resolution screens (if applicable). The main downside of having Max-Q performance on your laptop computer is having less space inside and around your system’s case due to added heat sink components.

Who should buy the ASUS ROG Strix GL504GM over the Zephyrus?

While both laptops are capable of playing most games, there are some major differences between them that make one a better choice than another. If you’re looking for top-of-the-line hardware, then you’ll want to buy ROG over Zephyrus. The computer’s Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card will perform as well or better than any other laptop on our list and its 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD configuration gives it all the storage space needed to store large game files. The laptop’s display also has more pure color coverage, with 100% sRGB compared to 90% sRGB for ASUS’ laptop.

Which laptop has a better keyboard & trackpad?

Asus Zephyrus G15 or Asus ROG Strix G15? Which laptop has a better audio system, keyboard & trackpad and screen resolution. And which laptop is more powerful and why, who wins in raw performance in 2017. What about price, value for money and battery life? Is there a winner at all when it comes to overall rating of these laptops from Asus? In my personal opinion I have tried many asus laptops and one thing that stands out to me was how nice their keyboards were.

Cooling system and heat outputwhich machine stays cooler while gaming?

One of our favorite features on the Asus ROG Zephyrus GX501VI-GZ001T (Strix) was its IceCool system, which uses heat pipes and a tiny fan to keep your hands and wrists cool. The machine has no vents or fans on top, so all of that hot air stays inside—even under heavy load. It also does away with any spinning hard drive or solid-state drive (SSD) for storage; instead it uses an M.2 SSD and an external 2.5-inch HDD/SSD.

Graphics performance comparison – which machine can run current games on high settings at playable frame rates (60+ fps)?

The Zephyrus and Strix have very different thermal dissipation designs. The Zephyrus relies on airflow to dissipate heat from its cooling fans, while ASUS employs a patented vapor chamber setup in which coolant passes through perforated tubes submerged in two large aluminum blocks. This design adds to weight (and thus shipping costs), but it also allows ASUS to run its fans much more quietly and efficiently than competing laptops. It can therefore run them at slower speeds and get better thermals without making too much noise. Conversely, if you’re looking for top-of-the-line performance at any cost, we’d recommend checking out one of our recommendations below—we are confident that none of them will throttle under intense load.

Thermals, Throttling, Noise, Boot Time

A gaming laptop is a highly-specialized machine that requires a lot of cooling power to maintain high framerates. If too much heat builds up inside, it can lead to throttling or even damage your components. In addition, if you are serious about gaming on your laptop, you may want to invest in additional cooling devices such as a fan and heatsink; both will help keep your system from reaching unsafe operating temperatures. Again, though, these add-ons will increase costs while increasing weight and decreasing battery life. A gaming laptop should never be used without proper ventilation; do not use it on soft surfaces like a bed or couch where there’s nothing to dissipate heat and ensure proper airflow around the computer.

Eluktronics RP-15 Vs. Eluktronics RP-17 (Who wins?)
